《时尚先锋香奈儿》根据Edmonde Charles-Roux撰写的香奈儿传记《惊世骇俗的人》（L’Irreguliere）改编，由法国女导演安妮·芳婷执导，香奈儿公司的艺术总监卡尔·拉格菲尔德将担任影片的服装顾问。重点描绘香奈儿早年间的奋斗史，讲述她的少女时期直至在时装界初露锋芒这段时期的遭遇。

香奈儿童年很是不幸，幼年丧母的她一直寄居在孤儿院中。直到她独自去巴黎创天下，25岁时，她遇到了第一位情人耶田·巴桑，一位热衷于骑术的中产绅士，和巴桑一起生活，香奈尔也成了一名美丽的女骑师。1910年，香奈尔和一位年轻的英国人邂逅，并相爱了。他就是亚瑟·卡保，一位马球运动员兼年轻的实业家。香奈尔认为“他不只英俊，而且相当优秀”，她甚至曾在多次说过，这是她一生唯一爱上的男人。然而，香奈尔并不满足无所事事的情妇生活，在情人的资助下，她开始了她的事业。传奇开场。

由最具人气的女明星奥黛丽·塔图来扮演尚未成名前的夏奈尔。一个简朴的女孩Coco，靠着天赋和自学成才的勤奋，成长为一代女性时尚的代言人。在这个成长过程中夏奈尔与各种男人的邂逅，帮助她了解奢华神秘的时尚圈，她与著名音乐家斯特拉文斯基的爱情，也成为上个世纪初的一段佳话。著名喜剧明星伯纳尔· 伯纳福德也在片中一同出演，让这部影片有点《天使艾米丽》似的幽默感和风趣，把观众带回到几十年前的时代质感里。
